East Tennessee PBS
Antique and Appraisal Fair
Saturday, April 1, 2017 | 9:00 am – 3:00 pm*
Cherokee Mills | 2240 Sutherland Ave. | Knoxville, TN 37919
Not sure what to bring? Here are some simple guidelines and how-tos:
Have you ever wondered what your Grandmother’s silver flatware and porcelain dishes are worth? What about your Grandfather’s old gun and sword from the Civil War era? Are they worth a fortune…or nothing at all?
Bring your antiques and art to our appraisal fair and find out if they have value in today’s antique and art market. We’ll review items such as silver, jewelry, pottery, Civil War memorabilia, paintings, samplers/textiles, furniture and more.
I want to schedule a time:
Because of the variety of items to appraise, it is difficult to provide a specific appointment time. To reduce waiting time, we have provided three sessions, a PBS members only time (link this to the VIP PAGE), or AM and PM Session, you will be able to choose your session at the time of ticket purchase.
I Want to go to the PBS Members Only Session:
There is a special session that is only for PBS members. PBS members will receive a promo code in email in the promo code field when buying tickets. Want to become a member so you can participate? Contact Gary Ellis at 865-595-0239 or email at gellis@EastTennesseePBS.org
I have a large (or heavy) item to appraise, how do I do that?
Take a photo!
For items that are difficult to transport bring photo hardcopies or photos on an iPad (digital camera or smart phone photos often work as well). You can also email photos to firstname.lastname@example.org and reference the appraisal fair you will attend in the email subject and/or body and we’ll have them with us to review at the fair.
Following are a few guidelines for photos and items:
- For large or heavy furniture, take photos of:
- The front and back of the item
- The feet of the item
- Close-ups of any special markings, signatures and dovetails
- Markings or signatures may be inside or on the bottom of drawers or on the bottom of the furniture.
- Dovetails may exist where the panels of the drawer interface with each other.
Can I bring a firearm for appraisal?
- Yes, however, it can only be early firearms, generally pre-1900
- Unloaded only
- You can also send photos, but get close-ups of any markings and decorations on the gun barrel, the trigger area and the hammer area, the more detail the better.
Can I buy tickets at the door?
Yes, you can purchase tickets at the door, however, ET PBS member event tickets must be purchased online, in advance.
Additional questions about the event? Email Kate at kspears@EastTennesseePBS.org
The appraisals are verbal-only, current market value estimates and cannot be used for insurance or other purposes.
Appraisals are $10 per item with the proceeds benefiting East Tennessee PBS
